It is a Centre of the Diocese of Palayamkottai for HIV patients, attended by the Sisters since June of 2012.

Every month it deals with around 10-15 patients who usually arrive accompanied by a family members, remain in the Centre around 15 days, while they go to the Hospital for different checkups; though some of them -above all if they also suffer from TB- remain there for more time.

During their stay in the Centre, they receive treatment and cares, besides accommodation and food for them and their family members.

The Sisters have laying hens and a neighbour has a cow so they easily can give everybody at least two eggs and two glasses of fresh milk every day, besides rice and fish. The difficulty is that, sometimes, they inform late that they are going to have lunch and the Sisters have to improvise.

The facilities include more than 10 beds in double rooms; medical consultation; treatment rooms and pharmacy, counselling, rehabilitation and recreation rooms, refectory and kitchen.

CENTRO DE SALUD SONTHAM PARA PACIENTES VIH de PALAYAMKOTTAI (TAMIL NADU, India)

Es un Centro de la Diócesis de Palayamkottai para pacientes VIH positivos, atendido por las Hermanas de la Caridad de Santa Ana desde junio de 2012.

Cada mes recibe un promedio de 10-15 pacientes que, suelen llegar acompañados por un familiar, permanecen en el Centro una media de 15 días, mientras acuden al Hospital para distintas revisiones; aunque algunos -sobre todo si además de SIDA tienen tuberculosis- pasan allí más tiempo.

Durante su estancia en el centro reciben tratamiento y cuidados, además de alojamiento y comida para ellos y sus acompañantes.

Las Hermanas cuentan con gallinas ponedoras y un vecino tiene una vaca, por lo que fácilmente pueden proporcionar a todos al menos 2 huevos y 2 vasos de leche fresca al día, además de arroz y pescado. La dificultad es que a veces avisan muy tarde de que van a llegar para comer y las Hermanas tienen que improvisar sobre la marcha.

Las instalaciones incluyen más de 10 camas en habitaciones dobles; consulta médica; salas de tratamiento y farmacia, de counselling, de rehabilitación y de recreo; comedor y cocina.
